Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
Recently I read the 4th book (Summer Knight) in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. The fantasy books feature Harry Dresden, a wizard for hire. I had read the first three books and enjoyed the first-person narrative voice, even though the plots were a little outrageous. We have to completely suspend our sense of belief to go along with the volumes of fantasy cliches. In the end it was too much for me. Jim Butcher can write a good story, but the Dresden Files become “enmired” and become pulp fiction or perhaps a comic book. The first book was fun to read, but by the 4th, I can no longer recommend the series. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars
