Pinantan Paddle
On a day with windy conditions in the Interior, there was one direction where the winds were not forecast until later in the day and that was in the Paul Lake – Pinantan Lake area. I drove up to Pinantan Lake and launched from the end of Cridge Road and paddled to the marshy area on the northeast side of the lake. Blackbirds, marsh wrens, and ducks kept a cattail-chatter as I glided by.
There was little wind on the lake, but darker clouds were swirling around, casting reflections in the water.
There were no other boats on the lake. Loons were fishing and two great blue herons flew over the marshes. I got there early enough to beat the clamor of human noises that arise each day. This was the 26th day of kayaking this year. Right on schedule…
