There are a number of route choices starting near Rose Hill Park.    On a morning in early April, I parked just off Rose Hill Road, then hiked along the Roller Coaster track (gas line) to the west then went up a long, steep, and narrow gully into the hills, then followed double tracks back to the start.   The Roller Coaster was a route we ran from lower Peterson Creek along the track to Juniper Ridge and back.

The trail I hiked up the gully is a downhill mountain bike track in a narrow, steep gully.

At the top of the gully, I turned east and followed double tracks back to Joyce Gulch, and worked my way back to the start.

There were dog walkers, hikers, and runners on these trails.    mountain bikers will soon be on the trails so the steep gullies will not be good routes for hikers.    Once cattle are grazing on these slopes, we can hike elsewhere, respecting fences and ranchers’ leased lands.
