A long-time favorite is the song “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd, shared here as a Live Unplugged David Gilmour video.

It was recorded in 1975 and was released as the title song of the album of the same name.     It was co-written by Gilmour and Roger Waters and is related to the lost band members, first Syd Barrett, then later Roger Waters.

The song is often listed on various Greatest Songs… lists and has many followers even after 50 years.    The combination of resonance, emotional weight, thematic material, memorable acoustic guitar sections, and a blend of sounds catches and holds our attention.

It will stay on my own list of favorites until the end.
