The Ferryman by Justin Cronin
I am reluctant to write a negative review so we will call this a mixed review instead. I was intrigued by the premise and read on to find out more. There were several sections where the dialogue seemed weak, nuanced to our time and idioms, rather than to a future dystopian world. Then, there seemed to be coincidences and/or timely events that moved the plot along. I realized that the story would later provide insights into what was really going in, but I found that the dialogue and contrived plot sequences had dampened my interest. There is a section of the book that I found particularly weak, so I just did some fast reading, but eventually gave up, my connection to the book lost.
I am not sure if I am off-base on this one and so it is best just to say it didn’t work for me.
