Community Lake is located in the hills to the east of Knouff Lake.    It is accessed from the Knouff Lake Road, then the Community Lake Road to the Rec Site.   I first paddled the lake then went for a hike into the hills above the lake on a hot summer day.

Most of the old roads on top of the mountain were cut for logging and some are still actively used by ranchers, hunters, and ATVers.    Much of the area has been replanted.    I hiked around the south end of the lake past the dam.

The outlet for the lake flows into Community Creek, which joins Edwards Creek and eventually ends up down in Heffley Creek.

I traversed over to an old logging road which went around the east side of the lake.

There are a few hours of hiking through the forest in the area.    The hilltops are treed so it would be hard to find a high viewpoint.     Many wildflowers lined the tracks for this out-and-back route at 4500+ feet.
