Along the Tranquille River Trail
On a fall day we went for a morning walk on the Tranquille River Trail, hoping for fall color along the way. The first part of the trail is a level double track flanked by cottonwoods. Sumacs, wild roses, aspens, douglas maples, and red ossier dogwoods added reds, yellows, and oranges to the green vegetation.
The pipes that once ran from the dam upstream down to Tranquille now have breaks and have flooded areas by the trail. A marsh has now developed on the east side not far up the trail.
We continued up past Pine Park to the dam/waterworks and down to the river. On the last hike up the river, I crossed the river and went quite a bit farther up the canyon.
This was a day for an easier hike, a day to enjoy the fall vegetation, the river, and the fine weather. For more information on the Tranquille River Trail, there are various pages and posts on KamloopsTrails.
