Denman Park Trails
We stayed on Denman Island and hiked trails on Denman, Sandy, and Hornby Islands. In the central part of the island are a number of adjoining parks, including Denman Island Provincial Park, Central Park, and a Conservancy. We started a loop route on Pickles Road and hiked forested trails, with several marshy spots, an open ridge, and some multi-purpose trails.
The trailheads were marked and we used a map to navigate the trails. Some of the deciduous trails were still leafing out.
We enjoyed stopping at marshes to watch the birds and pond life.
From the top of a ridge, we could see across the treetops to Forbidden Plateau and the Strathcona Park Ranges on Vancouver Island.
The West Coast rainforests flanked our trails for much of the hike, always beautiful on a sunny day.
Some of the moments of our hike are found in this YouTube video:
We found the trails on these islands to be very rewarding, a great hiking destination.
