Garden of the Trolls
The Garden of the Trolls is an area of interesting boulders and outcrops at the foot of Jag Hill, just above the Dewdrop Range. Most of the southern face of Jag Hill has ragged ridges, spires, lava pockets, and cliffs and at the foot are chunks of rock with irregular shapes. The name Garden of the trolls was taken from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings in which mountain trolls are turned to stone in the light of the day and remained frozen in place in a remote spot in the hills.
Access to the Garden of the Trolls can be from the Frederick Road parking areas or from the Tranquille – Criss Creek Road. There are no trails, but it is a 1 km cross country hike to the area. More information can be found on Kamloops Trails:
A YouTube video is also now available on the Kamloops Trails channel Ramble On.
