Goose Lake Road Hike
When the weather is rainy, snowy, foggy, or cold, trails can be muddy or slippery and wet vegetation may mean wet pants. On these types of days, a quiet gravel road is an option for a walk/hike. During the recent atmospheric river, we were shrouded in fog and the air was wet. I started near the junction of the Long Lake Road and Goose Lake Road, parked in a pullout, and did a brisk walk up the road bearing west.
I hiked for 4 km, turning around just past the crossing of Peterson Creek, with the old mine site in view. There were no vehicles on the road and I saw only one person who was running the same route. I hiked back the way I came, following Peterson Creek downstream.
Near the end of the 8 km route, the sun appeared through the fog for just a moment.
It is relatively easy to keep a good pace for the duration of the walk/hike. Near the end I saw my first two vehicles. Almost all of the outing was quiet, peaceful, and scenic. I plan to hike the next section this fall too.
