Black Lake is located in Roche Lake Provincial Park.    It is reached by a 1km rough road.   I have hiked that road many times, but i have been reluctant to drive it, but I also wanted to paddle the lake,    On a warm summer morning, I put on my kayak pack (a backpack with a folding kayak), and carried my paddle, then hiked in to Black Lake.

I assembled the folding kayak (an Oru Bay) on the shoreline in about 5 minutes, then I launched and paddled around the lake.

Black Lake is a very nice lake for a shorter paddle.

On the way in I spotted a lynx and on the way out, a moose crossed the track.    A few mosquitoes tried to carry me away so I swatted some of them…
