Repulse Point Hike
While staying on Denman Island near Repulse Point, the weather was a bit wet so I made up my own hike, a loop route down Lacon Road (no traffic), out to a beach area, then along the rocky beaches and shoreline around Repulse Point for a loop route.
The first part of the hike was past mixed forests and wooded properties, all quiet in April.
tI found a short section of trail made by locals, a shortcut out to the shoreline.
The first past of the beach is mostly gravel, shells, and seaweed, a crescent leading out to Repulse Point. All shoreline lands below the high water mark are open to the public.
Repulse Point is a rocky isthmus jutting out into Baynes Sound. Deep Bay on Vancouver Island is across the sound, only 1.6 km west.
Past Repulse Bay is a rocky bay that continues all the way to Boyle Point. On the next day I hiked the shoreline out to sea cliffs, then found a way to get up to the trails in Boyle Point Provincial Park, another day of exploration.
This was another day of exploration, one of the best choices for hiking a new area.
