December saw little snowfall and the temperatures were mild so hiking season continued on. In most of our years we have had to do some “snow stomps”, hiking in snow, sometimes with traction devices, then we shift over to snowshoeing once the snow becomes deeper. This year we kept hiking the lower elevation trails. On this day, we hiked the trails off of Bunker Road, starting on Fescue, then taking side trails and some off-trail sections too.
We picked up some geocaches along the way, turning a one hour hike into two hours. A few images of the outing are shared here. Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
The Sage – Fescue – Arnica – TRU Connector – Falcon – Panorama Trails off Bunker Road are one of our most frequent hiking locations, reliable trails with good views. We expect to return for more hiking there, especially in a 365 hikes year.
