On Denman Island, there are a series of connected green areas surrounding Denman Island Provincial Park, including Denman Island Protected Area, Central Park, Settlement Lands, Inner Island Nature Reserve, Pickles Road Conservation Area, and Winter Wren Wood. Trails wind through the forest, passing marshes and wet areas, over small hills, through dales. We can combine some of them for a longer hikes, sometimes walking on a road to make connections. We have hiked a number of the trails and on this last trip, we hiked some more.
A few photos taken while doing these hikes are shared here. Click an image for a lightbox view.

I had hoped for a trail, but ended up with an off-trail route until I came into the Provincial Park. I found a …Continue reading →
While staying on Denman Island near Repulse Point, the weather was a bit wet so I made up my own hike, a loop route down Lacon Road (no traffic), out to a beach area, then along the rocky beaches and shoreline around Repulse Point for a loop route. The first part of the hike was past mixed forests and wooded …Continue reading →
A trek along the shoreline, a scramble up seacliffs, a hike in the provincial park, then through a conservation area, and a return on informal trails for a loop route/hike on Denman Island
We stayed on Denman Island and hiked trails on Denman, Sandy, and Hornby Islands. In the central part of the island are a number of adjoining parks, including Denman Island Provincial Park, Central Park, and a Conservancy. We started a loop route on Pickles Road and hiked forested trails, with several marshy spots, an open ridge, and some multi-purpose trails. …Continue reading →
