Chris Riddell (a political cartoonist for the Observer) has selected 46 poems, some older and well-known, and some newer, then he has grouped them into sections, each with a theme. The book is full of his own illustrations, and the combination in this small volume has a grace and symmetry to it that was pleasing.
Some favorite poems are included, but he has chosen some that were new too. I read it all in one sitting, but it would make a good book to leave by the reading chair, to be picked up when the mood is right, revisiting the verses that bring meaning to each of us. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars
