Many years ago I read The Stand and it became my favorite Stephen King book. A few years ago I read the novel It, which is now my favorite, but The Stand remains a memorable book, one I would read again.
I watched the 1994 TV Series but was disappointed. Recently Amazon Prime has aired a new version in 2020 which we watched with interest, but were again let down.
The most recent adaptation made the whole series a good vs evil battle with Randall Flagg on one side and Mother Abigail’s Boulder team on the other side. But there was so much more to the story…
I think they missed the point of the story.
The final episode reflected the events of the novel better, though, a partial redemption.
I will not watch another adaptation of The Stand. It is a fine story, best enjoyed as a reading experience.
