Knife by Jo Nesbo
Knife by Jo Nesbo is the 12th book in the Harry Hole series of Nordic noir books. It is a longer story with many twists and several layers of dark and unsettling sections. Hole is an alcoholic, sometimes suicidal, and flawed, but he is also a sharp detective. With a long complex history behind him, his estranged wife is murdered, and he can only investigate unofficially, even though he is told to not to. There are many potential leads and many dead-ends along the way, but the novel is wrapped up in a clever and satisfying way. The story is sharp, but not an easy read.
I liked the book, but did not enjoy many of the chapters along the way. Recommended, but with the cautionary words noted above. 4.2/5 stars
