Beethoven’s 7th Symphony – Second Movement
Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony is close to perfect from start to finish. I have listened to it many times and never tire of it.
Included with this post is a short video of the Second Movement (Allegretto), a sad and beautiful piece marking the end of a catastrophic liberation battle near Leipzig, freeing the the country from Napoleon’s armies. The piece was aired two months after the battle and the movement can be seen as a funeral procession, but one that has remained popular for 212 years.
