Rogue Protocol and Exit Strategy by Martha Wells
Rogue Protocol is the third book in the popular Murderbot Diaries. Murderbot is a sentient cyborg, a Security Unit which has hacked its governor module. As a “free agent”, it is neither a robot, nor a human. The stories are told from its point-of-view. From its time as a Security Unit protecting crews on missions on interstellar ships and on planets, it continues to protect people caught in conflicts between corporations. We also are privy to its internal dialogue, full of self-doubt and feelings which it doesn’t understand.
Rogue Protocol follows Murderbot to a remote terra-forming facility above a planet with a crew of researchers who find combat units and saboteurs ready to kill visitors. The novel is a short, but action-packed story, similar to others in the series.
Exit Strategy follows Murderbot on his successful return from the previous book’s adventure as he hears about a kidnapping and hostage incident involving his former owner/friend Mensa. Another action-packed story with humor and creative sequences….
I have read 6 of the 7 books in the series now (Rating 4.2 of 5 stars) and I have enjoyed them, but it is time to move on now.
