Bush Lake North Snowshoe
In the New Year there was lots of snow in both the Bush Lake, Stake Lake, Lac le Jeune, Lodgepole Lake and Dogwood Marshes areas. On a cool day, the Bush Lake North area was the area to see if tracks had been set and if logging in the area had removed some trails. From the parking lot across the Lac le Jeune Road, I went to the west side, put on my snowshoes and followed the main access trail, a single track leading to a double track heading towards Bush Lake. I angled off onto an unstomped single track (Engine Trail) through the forest. I then picked up a route I have been doing for about 40 years, the Bush Lake North Loop. There had been some logging, but the trail was still there to find, using flagging tape and some other tracks.

The single track winds through the forest, around some of the cutblocks, and on old double tracks in a loop route between the Coquihalla Highway and the Lac le Jeune Road.

The route passes by some older tall douglas firs, some small marshes, and some hills.

There are many possible routes in the Bush Lake area so each time I snowshoe, I choose a different combination, and occasionally stomp in an untracked route to add to the route choices. We can choose a different route all winter in the main snowshoeing areas off the Lac le Jeune Road.
