Bush South Stomp
On a cold and sunny day in February, there was no wind in the forested hills near Dogwood Marshes and Bush Lake. We went as a group, with a plan to keep moving, snowshoeing on stomped-in tracks in the Bush Lake South area. We stomped for 5 km, following tracks we had done other times. While we were there, we saw no one else, although we spotted wildlife tracks along the route.
There was a couple of centimeters of new stomp on all of the tracks. We saw tracks from snowshoe hares, coyotes, deer, and squirrels on, or by the trails.
From the upper areas of the South Hill, we could see Tod Mountain to the northeast.
By dressing well, picking known routes, and keeping a steady pace we were warm and comfortable on another winter day of snowshoeing.
