Jade Pass Hike
We have hiked all of the trails in Revelstoke National Park over the years. The hike that we have done more times than the others ones is the Eva Lake Trail, then up to the top of Jade Pass overlooking the Jade Lakes. The trail is called the Jade Lakes Trail, but that refers to going up to the pass, then down to Upper Jade Lake. If we are day-hiking, the route from the parking lot to Jade Pass, then a side trip to Eva Lake and back is over 16 km, assuming we can start at the upper trailhead. The section down to the Upper Jade Lake and back up adds extra distance and a steep down and back up. The Jade Lakes are a good destination for a backcountry backpack. We have hiked the route in mid-summer when the wildflowers are in bloom and the pass is snow-free, but it is also a very busy area for hiking. We have camped at Eva Lake and this allows time to explore the area more. If you do this hike, pick a sunny weekday and get an early start.
The trail starts at the end of the road on Mt. Revelstoke. then winds up and down to Miller Lake. We usually save the side trips to Eva Lake and Miller Lake for the way back after we have done the climb up into the pass. All three spots are worth your time. Jade Pass is the highlight for us. We usually scramble up one of the ridges for extended views into the Selkirk Mountains.

There are some alpine tarns and streams along the way, wildflowers to enjoy, and a number of scenic viewpoints.

A Google Photos album shares photos from a hike to Jade Pass (link). The album is also embedded here as a slideshow:
We hope to return to do this hike again in the upcoming year.
