Kayaking Adams Lake
On an early August weekday morning I drove up the Adams Lake Forest Service Road to Adams Lake Provincial Park (Bush Creek) to kayak on Adams Lake. The campground and beach were quiet when I arrived and there was no wind. On windier days, I go up or down the shoreline, out-and-back, but the lake was calm so I crossed over to the shoreline log booms on the other side. On this part of the lake, the eastern shore is all rocky bluffs with lots of blackened trees from forest fires.

There is a good boat launch at the campground with a wide crescent of gravel beach at the campground which extends both south and north.

I crossed the lake then paddled north up the eastern shoreline.

The wind started to come up so I crossed the lake, taking a longer diagonal line to steer into a headwind. The last kilometer passes a line of gravel beaches all the way back.

The Bush Creek site is an excellent launch/landing spot for kayaking the southern part of Adams Lake. There are additional launch areas for the middle part of the lake from Agate/Squaam Bay, then Brennan Creek for access to Spillmacheen Beaches or Poplar Point, and a number of Rec Sites and beach areas at the north end of the lake.
