Late Season Kayaking
Mild November weather has allowed dedicated paddlers an opportunity to extend the 2025 kayaking season on the water. As long as the temperature is 2ºC or higher and the wind is 10 km/h or less, the day will be okay for paddling. Since it is colder up in the high plateau hills, lower level lakes and the rivers are a better choice. I find that the period between 9 am and 11 am to be best, before afternoon winds, and after it starts to warm up.
I use a half spray skirt (splash deck), neoprene boots and gloves, and I wear a jacket which is rain and wind resistant. On a cooler day I use a toque and a hood and I may bring an extra set of gloves. I keep the outing to about an hour. There has been almost no one else on the water on these last days of paddling.

The last day of paddling is not far ahead, but while I can, I will add a few more days.
Provided here is a Google Photos album – Late Season Kayaking (link) of some photos I have taken on the water:
There are also some videos on TikTok (link), Instagram (link), and YouTube (link) from these days of paddling.

I paddled today (Nov. 23) with 2″ of snow on the hills. This may be the last day for the year, after 88 days of paddling in 2025.
