Around Jacko Lake
On a sunny and cool early spring day I went up to Jacko Lake to assess whether I could paddle on the lake in the next few days. I ended up going along the shoreline, using low water access, cattle trails, and a bit of bushwhacking to go right around the lake. This is not an established hiking trail and most of the route is on the edge of grazing lands, so I tried to stay below the grassland grazing areas, often with no easy route. When grazing season is underway, this would not be a good route choice for a hike.

For this day, I went quietly, leaving no trace, working my way around the lake, a 4.7 km effort.

There were ducks, geese, and killdeer in the bays, a few birds in the grasslands hills, some ice still in shallow areas, some dry marshy areas, but also some scenic spots on the lakeshore.

I will be back to paddle the lake soon.
