Boundary Waters by William Kent Krueger
Boundary Waters is the the book in the Cork O’Connor series, set in the forests and lake areas of the north end of Minnesota. Cork is a former Tamarack County Sheriff who is hired to find a missing woman (Shiloh), somewhere in the Boundary Waters area. With FBI agents and Indian guides they head out in canoes to find her, but there are others also looking to kill her. The story has an intricate plot and well-formed characters. Anishinabe characters and their culture is interwoven into the narrative. The story has lots of action, a mystery to be solved, and hidden secrets wound into the plot. The stories are similar to the Walt Longmire series with a balance or strong storytelling, a sense of place and an engaging plot. A recommended book – 4.5 stars/5
