Taylor Basin Hike
In a previous year, we traveled northwest – to Lillooet, then north and west to Carpenter Lake, then north to Tyaughton Lake. We stayed at Tyax Lodge. One of the hikes we did was a hike through Taylor Basin, up Taylor Creek to the old cabin, then up to Taylor Pass and back. This was a longer hike, but a scenic one. The original route was a track used by miners, hunters, ranchers, and First Nations. Hikers started to use the route as an access into the South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park area. Afterward the area is frequented by mountain bikers, but also horseback riders and backpackers. Tyax Lodge also has a floatplane service from the Resort up to one of several lakes in the mountains.

The mountains are colorful and have open slopes for excellent views and ridge access routes. A few photos from our hike into Taylor Basin are provided here in a Google Photos slideshow:
