Juniper Ridge Grasslands Project
The BC Parks Foundation is leading a fund-raising effort to purchase lands above Juniper Ridge. A donor has provided 50% of the funds needed and a campaign has been launched to crowdfund $1 million for this project. “This area near Juniper Ridge is a breathtaking 517-acre landscape east of Kamloops, home to rare grasslands, centuries-old trees, and vital habitat for species at risk. These grasslands support over 30% of the province’s threatened species, yet they cover less than 1% of British Columbia.”
“If everyone puts in whatever they can, it will all add up and we’ll get there. These crowdfunding campaigns are always a lot of fun and a great legacy for everyone who gets involved.” – Andy Day, CEO, BC Parks Foundation.
The initiative is supported by the Grasslands Conservation Council of B.C. and Kamloops Naturalist Club.
“This is a beautiful area and a part of British Columbia’s natural heritage that is becoming increasingly rare. We want to keep it for everyone to enjoy.”- Nancy Flood, President, Kamloops Naturalist Club
