Lac le Jeune Stomp
On a mild and sunny day at the end of January we snowshoed 6.9 km on trails on the south side of Lac le Jeune. We started at the end of Lac le Jeune Drive and hiked on stomped in trails bearing east to the end of the lake.
The sun shone through the firebreak and some smaller cutblocks as we worked our way to the Gus Johnson Trail.
We stopped for our break at the end of the lake, then snowshoed on snowmobile tracks on the lake, staying close to the shoreline.
About halfway along the lake, we then followed a well-established single track through the forest, following the lakeshore west.
There are many trail options as we neared the end of Lookout Road and Osprey Road, but we wound up the hill to return to the trailhead at the end of Lac le Jeune Drive. We finished through a lodgepole pin corridor.
The trails are well-stomped in and easy to follow, but there are a number of junctions so it may be best to have an app on your phone to assist with trail routes (I use Maps.me). We do a similar route each winter, then we will be back to hike some routes in the summer.
