McQueen Lake Trails
McQueen Lake Environmental Education Center offers an overnight camp for School District classes throughout the school year and outdoor education day trips on selected weekdays. Hikers are asked not to access the Overnight Center (security, safety, and privacy), but they can hike the trails on the south and east side during days when students are not on site. On a summer day after school was out for the summer, I started at the gate on the southwest corner of the property and hiked a series of trails for a 6 km loop route.

The route follows a double track to the Day Center at Smiling Pond, past Clay Lake, through grasslands, over a low ridge through the forest, around Griffin Lake, then back on a double track on the east side of McQueen Lake. A few images from the hike are shared here. Click an image for the gallery and any image for more information.
Anyone using the McQueen Lake Trails should do so quietly, leaving nothing but footprints.
