Kayaking Peterhope Lake

Peterhope

In early June I drove south on Highway 5A past Stump Lake, then turned east on the Peterhope Lake Road.     There is a nice Recreation Site 7 kms up the road.       I used the first boat launch unload and head into the lake in my kayak.

I paddled around the lake, including a marsh channel to a small lake on the southwest corner.

The marsh channel is suitable for kayaks, but it is too shallow for larger boats.    There were lots of noisy blackbirds and marsh wrens in the wetlands.

On the way back along the other shore, there was a bit of wind, but on the whole it was a great day for kayaking.

Peterhope Lake is one of my favorite lakes, one I will return to paddle each year.
