Trapp Lake North Kayaking
On a mild day with calm conditions, I drove down Highway 5A South to Trapp Lake for a second day of paddling, this time around the north end of the lake. Trapp Lake is a good spot for early spring paddling since the lake is ice-free early and there is some protection from seasonal winds. This lake is a muddy, alkaline lake though so it is a destination for spring kayaking only.

With no wind, the hills and the sky reflected in the lake water. I paddled north along the eastern shore to the bay at the end of the lake, then back down the western shore.

Geese and ducks were on the lake and a few birds flitted among the trees, but is not a quiet spot, with a steady trail of trucks going north or south on the highway. Headphones may be a good solution for this location.

There are a number of lakes down Highway 5A that will be paddled this year, part of a rotation of paddling lakes each year.
