Dufferin Ridge Hike
On the first day of fall, the day was sunny and windy, a good day for a hike on Dufferin Ridge. From the main parking area I followed the Tower Trail (an access road for the towers) to the top of Mt. Dufferin, the site of a number of communications towers. A single track trail continues along the top of the ridge and then down to the trails on the west side of the park.
From viewpoints on the east corner of Mt. Dufferin we can see the Thompson River below and the North Thompson River Valley extending north.

The ridge trail goes up and down smaller hills and winds through the forest to open hills farther west.

At the west end of Dufferin Ridge the trail descends grassland slopes. Views to the west extend to Kamloops Lake, the Dewdrop Range, and all the rocky hills above the river valley.

From the end of the Dufferin Ridge Trail I turned onto the Big Pine Trail, looping back to the start. The loop was a 5.5 km hike taking about 1.75 hours. I hope to return to hike the route in reverse on the snow in late fall.
