A Month of Paddling
In the last month I have been out kayaking the lakes, varying the location each time, but if conditions are marginal, I return to a few sheltered spots (Edith, Stake, McConnell mostly). If the forecast has been for stronger winds, that has been a hiking day instead. The goal is to paddle on almost all of the area lakes each year, but the higher elevation lakes are left for the summer. A few early fishing lakes can be busy early in the spring and at prime times in spring and summer, so the rotation of destinations takes this into account. The larger lakes have enough room for everyone so they are a good choice on a weekend. I paddle around the shoreline on smaller lakes twice usually, and on larger lakes, I try to do half the lake, then come back to do the other half later.
In the last month I have paddled the following lakes – Stake, McConnell, Trapp, Heffley, Shuswap, Edith, Paul, Walloper, Pass, Lac le Jeune, Lac du Bois, and Inks. Jacko and Pat Lake were paddled earlier. In the 32 days I paddled 17 times.
