Lyons Lake Lope
On a warm and sunny morning I drove north to Heffley Creek then turned onto the Heffley – Sun Peaks Road. At the waste disposal turn-off I went up the dirt road and parked. I then hiked up the dusty and bumpy backroad to the Sullivan Valley and to the shores of Lyons Lake. The hike was 6.1 km taking just under two hours. On a weekday morning there was no one around, but from seeing many dirt bike trails, it would be my guess that it would be busy on weekends.

The lands north of the track are all ranching lands and there was cattle out grazing. This is a beautiful spot, on the south end of Lyons Lake, looking north. I hiked back the way I had come. Shared here are some photos from the hike, embedded here as a slideshow of a Google Photos Album (link):
One year I hiked this route in the fall and with the seasonal color and the right light, I took one of my favorite photos. It was added to a large canvas in our home.
