Coal Hill Hike
On a sunny and windy day in May I drove to the upper side of Aberdeen, then hiked a series of tracks, winding to the top of Coal Hill. I looped back, traversing three sides of Coal Hill back to the track to take me back to the start. This was a 5 km hike with many fine viewpoints and spring wildflowers along the way.
I hiked on double tracks to the forested north side of Coal Hill.
There are communications towers on top of Coal Hill. From the edge of the hilltop we can enjoy wide views to the grasslands to the south.
I left the old double tracks and bike trails and traversed the south and east sides of Coal Hill back to the track I hiked up. There are several viewpoints looking north to Kamloops and up the North Thompson River Valley.
This is a favorite hike, one to do in 3 seasons. I will be back in early fall.
