Skyline Park Hike
On a mid-May day it had rained in the morning so I waited for the afternoon to do a shorter local hike. Although I had hiked Skyline Park once, I had not linked up the trails for a a loop route, with some out-and-back sections too. I started at the trailhead at the east end of Aberdeen Drive, then followed the Buttercup Trail, then out-and-back on Bunchgrass, along Aspen and back on Swallowtail and Lupine. There were several viewpoints at open points along the trails.
Most of the trail is open grassland and open forest, with some denser areas in gullies and north-facing slopes.
Many wildflowers were in bloom along the trails.
We can combine trails in various ways so the next time I return to hike the area in a different season, I will try a different trailhead and I will probably reverse the loop. These are pleasant trails for a moderate hike.
